I don’t know how we missed this one from a while back but it’s here now. Check out Michelle Obama on TV One with Roland Martin talking about one of our favorite subjects here on Black and Married With Kids.com “Date Night”. She breaks down the importance of date night and also talks about how the kids are watching you like we always say. She mentions how her daughter told her that she likes it when mommy and daddy hold hands. Great stuff, check it out.

I do love this clip. I have seen it many times and glad that others will get to see it also. Date night is so important. We may be older but as parents we still need ways to keep our connection with our spouse. Yes going on date night may be to the movies and we have to be quiet(if you can imagine me being quite) but it allows the hubby to slip his arm across your shoulder or to just hold hands while sharing a movie, or finding both you and your spouse reaching for the same popcorn bucket and touching hands in the process. Date night is a definate must. I don’t care if you have no kids or 10 kids. Married folks have to get away and (A) know that the kids will be ok with a sitter and (B) it gives the kids a sense of security that we trust them to not thow a party “In the White House while we are gone. LOL( I really do have a white house).

I love this couple! Michelle is wonderful and it’s clear they are in love. I’m glad for their example. Date night is important, even if it is on your couch. There are times when we put the kids to bed early (after we’ve watched a movie or played some games) and then me and hubby have date night. We tell the kids they know to let us have our time. Recently he took me to a concert. It was a really good time, we always talk about old times, future plans when we’re alone together.
