A White school teacher from Fairfield Freshman School in Ohio has recently been suspended for allegedly telling a Black student in his class, “we do not need another Black president,” after the student said he was interested in being president one day.
Gil Voigt, a science teacher, was suspended earlier this week by the Fairfield Board of Education and has been given ten days to request a hearing in front of the school board or referee.
The incident occurred on December 3rd and several students were present to witness the exchange. According to cincinnati.com, this isn’t the first time the teacher has been disciplined for making a racially insensitive comment. He has also been accused of using school technology inappropriately a few years ago and calling a student “stupid” last year.
As a parent I am concerned about any teacher who has repeatedly exhibited poor judgment and inappropriate behavior. Like many of you, I am interested in finding out whether or not Voigt remains a part of the Fairfield school system. All of our children, regardless of race, deserve better than this. Don’t you agree?
BMWK, What would you like to see happen in this case?

Why can’t we all just walk in love with another and not see color, just the person in front of us. I hope one day we can come together as people under God and bury the racism forever!
