I am inspired and I can now look at my son and with certainty tell him that you can be anything you want even president. And you can bring home a good women like Michelle Obama! LOL
I cried, for those that have left us and left us with a broken past, that they fought for us to have the ability to be able to sit down and have a descent meal, use of bathrooms, water fountains, to walk down the street with our heads held high, good schools, good jobs. The ones that have gone home before us I know with certainty are dancing in the streets of paved Gold in Heaven!!! shouting Halleluiah, Halleluiah and I shout with them!
ALSO!
I heard you guys on the radio this moring on WPGC!
KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK

I just have to say, this is a day in history that I and my children will never forget. Although, we are not an all black family, we are in fact Black. We are Latino, Native Indian & Black and we embrace all of our cultures with full understanding and acceptance of them and of all races. I just have to say I live in one the most racially divided town/cities in Ohio. I AM BLACK AND MARRIED WITH 5 CHILDREN. And my husband and I are extremely proud of our children. Yes, there are times when you feel like your kids are so out of order that there cannot possibly be other children that are like this until you look at kids that actually have serious family and street issues. The only issues my children face are racism. My oldest child, which is a young black man is 18, still a virgin, is in his last year of high school, getting a full scholarship to any university of his choice to be a teacher. My oldest daughter who is in her first year of high school is in a program like no other. She is attending high school while attending college classes and will receive her associate degree in business management at the same time she receives her high school diploma and will get two years of college paid for by this program. My middle child is a art genius and is in a gifted program and will receive a scholarship to attend an arts school, my other two daughters are also in gifted and talented schools and am making head way in there lives to become productive young people in society. I just wanted to point out that not only white kids or even those other races that are recognized as being highly intelligent are not the only ones that can make it. Despite being discriminated against in so many ways in my little city, I have taught my kids to love all people and not matter what someone does, don’t stoop to no one’s low level hatred. We face many of the hardships that many face with children, but we overcome it as a family by keeping true to family values and traditions. We still eat dinner together, my husband and I cook homemade meals EVERYDAY. My kids feel like it’s a treat to go out and eat. They have video games, but they spend more time playing outside then they do playing them. Black people live just like anyone else, just with less opportunities and less positive recognition. We love our kids just like anyone else and we have unwanted behavior in all races that we don’t approve of. Let’s stop looking at race to compare values, a way of living and how different people are and let’s start looking and embracing the similarities.

Barack and Michelle Obama are awesome examples of what can be accomplished with an education, belief in oneself, and hard work. Michelle started the convention off in a way that only she could have done. She showed a special level of professionalism, beauty, knowledge, understand of purpose, and love for her husband. She made me look at my loving wife of 15 yrs with appreciation and admiration. Looking at Michelle made me thank God for the proud women that he allows me to grow with. My wife and I both graduated from different Historically Black Colleges in 1990. Our kids, at one time talked about getting their college degrees. My wife just raised the bar by earning her Masters Degree graduating this past May with a 4.0 grade point average. This earned her an induction into one of the most prestigious honor societies in the world; Phi Kappa Phi for which people like Hillary Clinton are members. She did this while working full time, and being the mother of our two handsome boys. Now, our boys speak of getting their own Masters Degrees in the future. Listening to Michelle there is no doubt that she has worked hard and deserves to be where she is and with the man that she has. Listening to her, all I could think about was how my wife deserves no less. Barack was truly off the hook. After hearing him, one could only love what he is bringing to the table for our country or out of Fear look for something negative to minimize the Man that he is. He gives me so much inspiration by example, to accomplish my goals. Their family unit and individual accomplishments are worthy of modeling.
Thanks for the opportunity to share. This site is an awesome tool for black families and congratulations for being on the Russ Parr show this morning. Please continue your efforts.

I couldn’t wait to find out what this candidate’s position were on certain issues. The whole enigma of “change” had me just as curioius as everyone else.
I watched the events and speeches of the DNC and thought they put on a great show. The presentations were “on time” and probably did shed some light on who Barack Hussein Obama is presenting himself to be, for those that didn’t know.
It was and will remain a “historical” event no matter the outcome.
Personally, I thought there would be more light placed on what will be done to help the abject poor. I mean, I know it’s important to shore up the middle-class and most people are middle-class minded (at least). However, there are still those of us that don’t identify with the “middle class” experience because of the disinfranchisement that exists in certain areas of this American culture we live in (i.e., living with disabilities, being indigent, homeless without resources, etc.). I guess this would account for the sector that “don’t have boots” as the Senator mentioned in his speech last night.
To further that idea, you know there are actually people that don’t even know boots are available to them, where to go to get them or shunned by mainstream society for being in a condition where they don’t have “access.” There are just so many varying levels of existence in this society we live in. As for me, I feel like I have to check my tax return to see if I am in fact “middle class.” Economically, I might be. However, in terms of inclusion — I don’t feel like it.
I do wish good luck and Gods speed to all the folks working on and supporting the campaign.

@ Kiddies. I too wonder where I fit in. I have a great job and a job title but with 2 kids in college and the economy the way it is. I feel like I am making minium wage and it was not that long ago I got to “middle class status”. LOL.
@ Al. I am glad I am the only employee and the boss left early to start his weekend. You made me cry. I can tell you that I feel the way you do. It is as though the Obama’s have a love potion. I have found myself more apprecative of the little things that I take for granted that my husband does for me. I was just telling my husband yesterday that I have never seen Bill and Hillary so proud and so emotional towards each other. They seem like they fell in love again or finally really fell in. It’s the Obama love potion. LOL.
Al, I hope you tell your wife what your shared with us.

For the first time in my voting life I really feel a part of the political voting process. I have never believed so strongly in a candidate as I do for Barack Obama. He is annointed and has a lot to offer this country. I believe that he will do everything that he says. This country truly NEEDS a change and I believe that he is the man to lead us to that change. But like he said in his acceptance speech he cannot do it alone it is going to take ALL of us. We have to cut off the televisions, fathers HAVE to be a part of their chidlren’s lives, teaching MUST to begin at home and not in the classroom.
Barack appears to be just the “average man” to me. I say that not as an insult but as a compliment. I feel like if I were to bump into him here in Washington, DC that I would be able to approach him and he would be receptive to anything that I had to say. Michelle strikes me as being the “Girl Next Door” type too. Like you could just sit down and have tea with her and have a good down to earth chit-chat with her.
Together Michelle and Barack are bringing class and dignity back to Black America well actually America for that matter. They walk, talk, act and dress like men and women SHOULD. I get so sick of hearing people curse and complain and dress tacky and uncouth-like. America needs that change as well. They make a great 1st family and I know once they are in office they will renew the family values and beliefs that America lost years ago. Hopefully, black women will aspire to dress better because Michelle Obama will inspire them to. Hopefully, black men will also dress better because Barack Obama will incite that need for them to. Children will be dressed age appropriately because Malia and Sasha always are.
I’m just humble and so glad to be alive to see this pivitol moment in history and I’m so glad that my kids get to see it too.
