Every parent knows that one of the more trying times of raising a child is the dreaded potty training. While some parents have a fairly easy time, others can struggle for what seems to be years. From getting your child to tell you when they have no go, to graduating them to the kiddie potty to the grown up toilet, things can get really intimidating pretty quickly.
One mom decided that potty training was not reserved only for home, but decided that the training was just as portable as the potty. As the mom dined at a restaurant, so did her two toddlers. Instead of worrying about rushing to that bathroom, should the need arise, the children were eating their chicken nuggets, mostly disrobed, on top of their potties which were sitting on their chairs.
Kimberly Decker, a mom who had recently finished potty training her son and was dining at the restaurant at the time, snapped a picture of one of the girls looking completely calm and unphased in such an awkward moment for everyone else. KSL Utah spoke to Decker about the incident.
“The more you thought about it, the more unappetizing everything looked around me. I was like this is not ok, we’re eating, there was a business meeting with about five or six businessmen going on right next to me. The place was packed.”
Restaurant staff was unaware of the public potty training until they received several complaints from customers.
What do you think about potty training in public? Should it be left at home or is any family outing a potential learning opportunity for your children? What would you have done if you saw toddlers tinkling at the table? Would your view change if it was a different setting, away from food?

If you ask me, I would never do this! Never! Is it really that serious? No.
Stay home then – why put the children through that. Why put yourself through that – after all does the mother use the potty when she’s dining? I’m done.

HEYYYYYYYYY! are you really asking this question? potty training perhaps in the ladies/men’s room (i mean that’s where we go) but at the table where others eating can see and SMELL, come on is this poll real? SMH

OMG!!! This is unsanitary. Bathroom is not a place to eat so you should not bring the bathroom to the table
Lorane Simmons says
Potty training should be done at home, if it’s that serious while on outtings
take the child and the potty to the restroom. Teach them it’s a personal moment not public.
Keeley @ My Life on a Plate says
Oh boy… this is a bit much. Eating and potty training don’t go together. Isn’t this a health code violation?
And I’m sure SOMEBODY is going to say “but isn’t it okay to breastfeed in public?”. It’s NOT the same thing at all. Feces are not the same as breast milk.
Yuck.

She obviously wanted some attention. Nobody does this. She figured someone would take offense and say something.

Disgusting & unsanitary…..Shame on her for not realizing that teaching decorum is as important as potty training.

I hope the restaurant knows they can get shut down for this sort of thing. If I was dining at the time, I would have called the police. Why is your child nude, on a toilet in public? *9-1-1 what is your emergency?*
Julie C says
If you’re going to teach your kid that they can relieve themselves anytime and anywhere they feel like it, then you might as well leave them in diapers. Part of responsible potty training is showing them the appropriate place to go while out in public.
Sherrell says
So at what point are you going to wipe the child and wash your hands? all of this at the table and out in public is too much for me to absorb!!!! I dare not ask what people will do next. I don’t get it…. is the mom so lazy, gluttonish and ignorant that she finds it too much work to take the child to the bathroom and teach them this is how you take care of business in private AFTER eating. SMH. Why does everyone else have to share in your warped view of parenting. Get off the pot and out of the restaurant.
The PRBrown Report says
Some things are better left private, and to subject the public to the smell of your children’s waste because you are too lazy to take them to the bathroom is just sad!

To wonder if some have no clue what common sense is. IF the mother is young , just needs some advice and wisdom . I believe it could very well fall under child abuse or porn for the wrong people to see. Note that management would have stopped it. Unsanitary, unbelievable, etc.
