Yesterday I saw a good post over on Raw Dawg Buffalo’s site and wanted to share it with all of you but I got tied up so here is the link. It talks about how women should take note of Michelle Obama , and try to use her as a role model instead of folks like Keisha Cole or Beyoncee Knowles.

i agree with raw dawg (and so many others!) that michelle-o is simply the BEST!!
but i do take exception to raw dawg’s comments that keyisha cole and beyonce aren’t worthy of admiration. keyeisha cole is a young woman doing the best she can to take care of a CRAZY family. i’ve only caught her show a few times, but i can tell you that if my family was trippin the way her family does i freely admit that i would change the locks on my doors and pull the shades down. deep down, all that girl wants is for her family to be happy and heal the wounds of the past. that’s pretty admirable to me.
as for beyonce, yes she may wear a whole herd of horses on her head, but she IS a performer. she is a star who does not act trashy like so many other starlets. she seems to uphold a pretty decent moral lifestyle. she is married (go ahead Mrs. Carter!!) and got married before she had babies. once again that’s also pretty admirable.
I was not able to access Raw Dawg’s site to read the original article. I’ll chime in anyway. I don’t want to put down Keyisha Cole or Beyonce. However, I do think Michelle Obama is a better role model.
I became a father for the second time last week. I now have a little girl (my oldest is a boy). If I had to pick between these three ladies on who I would like to see my daughter look up to there is no contest. Michelle is intelligent, beautiful, classy, educated, and is a great support to Barak.
That is not to say Keyisha and Beyonce are not. But, to be frank, they are not on Michelle’s level. We know of Keyisha and Beyonce because they sing and show skin. We know of Michelle because of her service to her community and her unwavering support for her husband.
Yeah, no contest.
@T. Rogers – Congrats on the brand spanking new baby girl!
@TheDad,
Thanks bro! I can not even describe the feeling!
Puh-leese!! Beyonce Knowles/Carter is a ho!! I don’t like my daughter watching her act. To me she’s just one step removed from a pole stripper. She’s nobodies role model. Her songs messages are mixed and her performances and stylings are far too riske’ for children. She was a good girl in this respect though she did listen to her parents. She followed their advice and probably watched some of the underhandedness with Destiny’s Child and maybe survived it. I think she hooked up with old enough to be her daddy Jay Zee as an affront against her mom and dad. Michelle Obama is a much better role model. Now if we could get rid of her uhhh!! tic, she’d be perfect. And will someone get that girl a hair dreser?!!!

If I had a daughter(I have sons)I would want her to look up to Michelle or any other strong woman who demonstrate strength in her walk, talk and fashion. MTV and everyone on it sets the stereo-type that all black woman love to show it all and gyrate their bodies to be noticed. Today the young girls, ages 10 (or earlier) and up believe that you have to show some body part to be noticed…..NOT….your great-grandmother or grandmother didn’t and she was always a lady and everyone knew her as a lady…Michelle Obama…we are blessed to have you as the #1 role model for all America.
