Multi-platinum artist Shawn Stockman of Boyz II Men and wife Sharonda sat down with CNN to discuss discovering that their then one-year old son Micah (pictured left) was autistic.
“I did not know what to do, and one thing a man hates when it comes down to his family is not knowing what to do,” Shawn said.
They also discuss their charity organization Micah’s Voice which aims to help underprivileged families with special needs children be able to afford better care and support. He explains, “We learned through our journey with Micah just how fortunate we were, having money. There’s no way a normal couple or a single mom could afford this.”

I can really relate. I am young mother of 2 and my oldest son has Austism and he went through and still is going through the exact thing that Micah is going through. I noticed in the video that Micah is sensitive to noise and my son is the same way. I understand what they are going through.

I applaud them for coming forward to share their story, and more importantly to start a foundation that can help those in need. My son has autism and resources make all the difference in the world.
