The search for love and a potential spouse can be daunting. While the physical attraction is typically what draws most people in, it takes a whole lot more than that to keep them interested.

In my many years of coaching couples and hearing from men, I’ve come to learn what some men deem most valuable in their relationships.  There are certain qualities a woman can possess that reminds a man she’s the one to hold on to.

Although some vary from man to man, a few seem to be universal. Here are a few of the qualities I’ve been told a future wife should possess:

1. She is deeply rooted in her spiritual belief and faith.
When a woman loves God, she is invested in her relationship with Him. This quality usually makes it easier for her to fully invest in her other relationships, especially her marriage.

2. She loves you, and it shows.
When you’re around her, her love for you is evident. It’s in how she looks at you, touches you and speaks to you.

3. She supports you.
Your dreams are important to her. This woman makes it her business to ensure you feel encouraged and uplifted in all you do. She uses her words wisely to build you up. With her by your side, you feel like you can take on the world.

4. She listens to you.
Your thoughts, needs and concerns also matter to her. You usually can tell she listens because it’s evident in her actions.

5. She makes you feel like the man.
This woman trusts your decisions, and sometimes seeks your advice. She’s also good at stroking your ego every now and then. She is really good at making you feel like a priority.

6. She respects you.
You’ll know it in the way she speaks to you and about you. She’s aware of the impact yelling and name calling will have in a relationship. She avoids using words that belittle and hurt you.

7. She trusts you.
She takes you at your word. She believes you’ll do what you say you’re going to do. She’s also not afraid to be vulnerable with you. Her heart is in your hands.

8. She’s enjoyable to be around.
With her, there is less drama and more peace. She’s not often fussing or looking for confrontation. She values peace in her home. She makes the home exciting to come home to.

9. She is loyal to you.
This woman values the word commitment. She’s true to her word and the promises she makes to you. She loves you and wouldn’t jeopardize that for anyone or anything else. When you have her, you have her.

Gentlemen, please know a woman like this is more than just wife material. She’s one to honor and treasure as well. When you do find a good woman with the qualities listed above, make sure you’re a man worthy of her hand.
