Did you know that the gift of service in a marriage is contagious? When you make a habit out of giving and serving your spouse, your spouse will reciprocate. I’ve tried it in my own marriage, and it works. As a wife, I think of small ways that I can serve and give to my husband every day. It may be an unexpected hug, a kiss on his cheek, bringing him his favorite snack unexpectedly. Those small, but consistent acts of kindness have made a tremendous difference in my marriage.
Sometimes, it’s the simplest things that can make an extraordinary different to people’s lives.
The Vaseline® Healing Project is an aid effort in partnership with DirectRelief to provide dermatological care, Vaseline® Jelly and medical supplies needed to help heal the skin of people affected by poverty or emergencies around the world.
Direct Relief is a nonprofit organization that provides medical assistance to people around the world who have been affected by poverty, natural disasters and civil unrest. Direct Relief works with healthcare professionals and organizations on the ground and equips them with the essential medicines and supplies they need to help people recover.
Actress Viola Davis knows that small things can make a big difference and that is why she is the spokesperson for the Vaseline Healing Project. She recently went to The Today Show to announce that she has renewed her commitment to be a spokesperson for the Healing Project and to share that she renewed her vows with her husband.
I got involved because I love the word healing and feeling like there are simple solutions to solve bigger problems. ~ Viola Davis, Today Show February 24, 2016.
For Davis, renewing her vows in her marriage is something that helps her feel connected with her spouse. And being a part of the Vaseline Healing Project helps to provide simple solutions to solve bigger problems around the world.
How You Can Help
There are few ways that you can participate in this effort:
Purchase – When you make a conscious effort to purchase Vaseline® lotion or jelly from Walmart you will be helping Direct Relief deliver Vaseline® Jelly, medical supplies and dermatological care to people affected by poverty or emergencies. In 2016, for every unit sold, Direct Relief will donate 2¢, up to a maximum of 1 million dollars (on all Vaseline® lotion or jelly products, excluding lip items.)
Donate – You can directly donate and help Direct Relief build Relief Kits. By making a donation, you are contributing a dollar value equivalent to the kit item toward Direct Relief’s kit programs, directly helping to improve the health of people in need.
BMWK – what other uses can you think of for Vaseline Jelly in your marriage (keep it clean….lol?)
