A few weeks ago, I told TheDad that I was feeling overwhelmed. With a demanding career that requires about 50 hours per week, 4 kids ranging from 15 years old to 8 months old, school activities, and a hot young husband….who wouldn’t feel overwhelmed sometimes. When I told TheDad how I was feeling, he basically told me I had to change my way of thinking….my out look on things. Now this is true… I hear it all of the time… a positive outlook can help you change your perspective on things. However, that was the last thing I wanted to hear at that time. I did not think he understood how I was feeling and I left the conversation a little frustrated.
A few days later out of the blue, TheDad announced that he was going to cook dinner 2 nights a week, Tuesdays and Wednesdays. (This is in addition to everything else that he does… he is no slacker..he does a lot already.) He just made my heart melt with that announcement. It made me happy because it actually showed that he was listening to me and that he was actually thinking about our conversation and how to help me out. It showed that he cared and that he wanted to make me happy.
TheDad has been cooking on Tuesday and Wednesday nights for over 2 weeks now. On the first Tuesday night, TheDad prepared me one of the toughest Sirloin Steaks that I have ever tasted!! I bit into that thick rubbery steak and that meat got stuck in my teeth and it was hard going down!! But it was the best steak I ever had……because it was prepared with love and I was happy not to be cooking. It felt good just to sit at the table and eat. TheDad has cooked several times since that day and it just gets better and better.

The Dad is Da Man!

Several disclaimers:
A. The rubbery steak was due to TheMom’s OCD like reaction to uncooked meats and poultry. She is obsessive about you cooking her steak super done and any half baked chef would know a good steak is not meant to be cooked for too long or it will be tough.
B. She also didn’t mention a Flat Iron Steak that I cooked last week that had her drooling for more. Hardly a morsel left by the end of the night.
@Mocha Dad – thanks for the shout out. Brother trying to hold it down.
The Dad,
You were just a little rusty. Tell her that by Christmas you will be blowing G. Garvin, the Neely’s, and all of them out of the water!
A steak is one of those foods that we all “make our own”. @ TheDad, good looking out. It is always nice to have alittle more help.
You better work, TheDad! Um, can you call my husband and have a little convo with him about this cooking twice a week thing? I’m just sayin’…
