If you read my blog, you know I believe I was born in the wrong era. I feel some kind of way about life cheating me out of experiencing the Dorothy Dandridges, Audrey Hepburns, and Shug Avery’s of our time. However, I’m always down for a little dress up and knew exactly what I wanted the theme of our wedding to be: Vintage! Shot by Adela Red, here in Chicago, our engagement shoot was everything I hoped it would be and more. I had the chance to be a classic lady, and Steve was a true gentleman. Enjoy!
Our love story is laced with the community of Hyde Park here in Chicago, so it was a no brainer for us to shoot here. It’s where Steve told me he liked me, where we had our first kiss, and where we’ll call home after we tie the knot.
It wasn’t hard for Steve to be the role of a classic gentleman during our shoot. It was cold and rainy, and Steve couldn’t stop asking me if I was okay. That’s what I love the most about him. He’s extremely kind and considerate.
The countdown to forever has begun and I look forward to sharing more of or trip to the altar with you guys. September 06, 2014, it will be going down!
BMWK – did you have engagement photos taken? Did you have a theme?

Just lovely…can feel the warmth despite it being cold as you say! Breakfast at Tiffany’s is one of my favorite movies…was pleasantly surprised when Google recently “doodled” Audrey. Anyway, you should submit your photos to Essence.com and share your story to encourage the ladies who visit that site. Peace and Blessings.
