Eleven book club members from the group “Sistahs on the Reading Edge” were humiliated this past Saturday after being escorted from a Napa Valley Train for being “too loud.” This accusation resulted from the kind of boisterous, fun loving laughter we are used to as a community but considered obnoxious to those with a wad up theirs.
These educated (we know this because they are a ‘book club’) women, ranged in age up to 85 years old, and were marched through six cars, off the train, to a waiting group of police officers. Supposedly, other passengers felt the women’s laughter was annoying and disruptive. The incident has set off a social media backlash with #laughingwhileblack and the women are calling it racism.
BMWK, check out the videos below and lend us your thoughts. What say you?
We made it! See ya’ll on the train! We miss you Elaine Morris??

It was supposed to be a book club outing. A day of bonding, wine and fun for a group of black women riding the popular The Napa Valley Wine Train. But the trip was unexpectedly cut short they say, all because they laughed too loudly. Now the #LaughingWhileBlack is taking over social media, where some are accusing the Wine Train of being racist.

If it’s not one thing its another!!! So, its wrong to have fun or being a little excited about reading a good book. Even if its just educated women having fun hanging together??? Maybe it’s because its educated (Black) women !!!??? You (Blacks) can’t have a discussion or debate (intelligent mind you) WOW !!!

Doesn’t surprise me. You’re welcomed but not welcomed. They will quickly show you that you need to remember your place no matter how educated. We’ve come far but, we still have a long way to go.
