All of the Real Housewives of Atlanta fans will find this interesting. For the rest of you this is an example of what happens when keeping it real goes wrong. The following video is about fan favorite NeNe Leakes who was loved by many for keeping it real and not being fake. Folks if this is true there’s no future in your frontin!
What do you think about this?

@Gregg- you’re a funny guy.

what is more american and ‘real’ than living beyond your means? we are in an economic crisis because people wanted houses they couldn’t afford bought with credit they didn’t deserve.
Nicole says
OMG, why would someone even put themselves out there like that, common sense would tell you that somebody was going to check your background.
I watched the show a few times and thought that it was entertaining at best, but all of the woman on the show were a little too self-absorbed for me.
Lori says
I feel sorry for anyone who loses their home. But as for the show, well, I’m sorta like Greg . . . too much ghetto and not enough fab for me (smile).

I think this is a shame. I did watch the show and I did like NeNe. I thought she was REAL and funny. But oh well. Maybe we all can learn a lesson from NeNe about living above our means.

I am not ashamed to admit I loved every minute of the show but I never thought it was more than just entertainment. As far as NeNe, though by far she was the most entertaining, I feel sorry for her eldest son more than anything because it was apparent she embarasses the mess out of him and he even looked uncomfortable being taped. His family has been put on blast big time and the thing that is most disturbing is that these people probably never took the time to think how this may affect their children. *shrugs shoulders*…can’t lie, I WILL be waiting for season 2 to start! 🙂
kim h20s says
Jonesti,
One of the ladies on the show has children by Keith Sweat (or some other 80s/90s RB singer) and he refused to sign the forms to allow his children to be taped.
It would have been so much better if this show had been used to demonstrate the dangers of living beyond your means or to demonstrate that REAL wealth is sustainable and grows.
However, I will focus on my attention on the REAL HOUSEWIFE OF 1600 PENNSYLVANIA AVENUE!

This show was my wife’s guilty pleasure. We both anticipated the show after having seen the original “Real Housewives of Orange County”. I just knew the ATL version would be a little more ghetto fabulous. I was right. I looked at it more as entertainment than anything. I am convinced reality shows are staged anyway.
Unfortunatley, I am not surprised about the phoney side of the characters. I am just surprised they would put themselves on the show knowing their backgrounds would be rigorously checked. It is never good when someone loses their home, but I think they will be alright.
This shows the show was what we all knew it was: FAKE.

ok ok… so they are living kinda foul. the media are so quick to put black people on blast. i am sure that they are not the only ones living beyond their means. what about the housewives show that portrayed the white girls, are all of them rich? i know that we got to come correct but dang cut alittle slack.
Makeydah says
What I think is:
Why are these people under so much scrutiny?
How many series of this show have been on showcasing different cities – and how many of the other wives have been researched in such a manner?
Observe people, observe!

I’m just sayin…

@ Makeydah – You make a great point! But we ALL know white folks get away with stuff me can’t..not that it’s ok BUT that’s how this disfuctional, hypocritcal world works. Yet and still NeNe had a choice whether to be on the show or not and thus making herself fair game to public scrutiny. Really, I am disappointed in the media for not exposing Kim more than anything. I haven’t seen any other cities but if Kim wasn’t married, why was she on the show in the FIRST place?!!? But I think I read somewhere the cast was paid $8000 an episode so I bet that had much to do with it lol 🙂
TheDad says
Can we stop taking up for black folks when they do something wrong and blaming the man for calling them out? This isn’t necessarily about Nene just situations in general. If you’re offended that crack rock will get you more time in jail than powered cocaine and think it’s a racist conspiracy then guess what… don’t sell crack.
Now I don’t know what’s up with Nene and I thought she was cool on the show but if this is true then she’s wrong for doing it and I feel sorry for her son in college because they probably trying to clown him. It wouldn’t be the news fault it would be her fault for frontin.

I watched the show a few times. I can’t believe with beautiful southern belles in the ATL they could only find a non married woman and the materialistic ones. I did find it entertaining though. Can’t wait for them to start all over and re air them. To fake the funk, living in a rented mansion that you get evicted from. Funny! I too did read that they got $8000 per episode. Even if they only taped 8 shows that is $64,000. More $ than some ppl make in a whole year. I don’t feel sorry for them. It’s not how much money you make but what you do with your money. Most ppl like materialistic things, it’s ok, just stay within your means. I would love a new car, that is just it, I want but don’t need. When ppl try to out do the “Jones”s” that is when it comes back to bite you in the behind.
