Did you know August is Romance Awareness Month? According to nationaldaycalendar.com, Romance Awareness Month is all about..
being aware of and adding more romance into your relationship, intentionally.
I love it because romance is usually that one thing couples sometimes forget. It takes a concerted effort to keep romance alive in a relationship. Having a whole month devoted to reminding us of it, is absolutely amazing.
In marriage, in particular, it’s a little easy to get relaxed. Which makes it even more important to find ways to keep the romance alive and well. If yours is struggling in that area, embrace romance awareness month and spice up your marriage with these 10 tips:
- Do what you did in the beginning.
Think back to when you were still trying to woo your spouse. Remember how you dressed to impress, how you called often and just showed a genuine interest? Yes, well do all of that again. - Remember your attitude is everything.
Be enjoyable to be around. Make your relationship fun. Be positive and bring some good energy into your home. - Think, act and dress sexy.
Love your body and find ways to keep your spouse attracted to you. Wear lingerie, use body oils and scents that are known for arousal. Role play could also be a fun way to heat up your marriage. - Switch up the scenery occasionally.
Spend the night in a hotel or try a new space in your home to get a little kinky. Routine typically adds to boredom, so do something different and be somewhere different. - Get creative with intimacy.
Think outside the box when it comes to being intimate with one another. Touch in new ways, try different sexual positions or try different parts of the body to stimulate on your partner. Don’t be afraid to try something new. - Don’t live for the weekend only.
Don’t be afraid to be spontaneous and do things during the week. Everything you do with your spouse doesn’t have to be planned first. It’s good to go with the flow when you can. - Plan date unique nights.
Switch it up every now and then. Wine and paint parties, movies, cooking together, weekend getaways, dance classes, festivals, wine tastings or skating are all great date night ideas. - Bring in the element of surprise.
Surprising your spouse is also a fun way to keep romance alive. Plan a surprise date without sharing any of the details with your partner. Or bring something home they’ve been saying they wanted. It’s usually the little things that matter most, so do the little things. - Build some anticipation throughout the day.
Create ways for excitement to build up until you and your partner see each other again at the end of the day . Send sexy pictures and text messages. Tell them what you can’t wait to do to them later. Make sure you are on your spouse’s mind all day and vice versa. - Use romantic language as often as possible.
Things like “you’re beautiful,” “you’re sexy,” or “you turn me on” are great verbal expressions of romance.
Romance Awareness month may come once a year, but keeping your marriage spicy and exciting should be daily.
