You know we’ve watched a bunch of black TV shows here at BMWK and we’re kinda nodding our head at some of the couples that ended up on this list, compiled by Stacia Brown over at Huffington Post. Check out the slideshow to see which characters should have said “I don’t” instead of “I do.”

i agree with you on the melanie and derwin one. i also never understood how he claimed to be a preacher;s kid and all devout but still shacked up with her. either way, i’m excited for the new season! as for dwayne and whitley. leave that one alone please! they remain my ideal couple lol

Derwin began to be spiritual because his grandmother instilled the word in him. He also has been the result of how society can affect those that have a spiritual foundation because he still did some dirt. As a preacher’s kid I can say that we are not without sin because we grow up with the Man/Woman of God, we have to find our own identities, so I’, not so suprised that he shaked, I’m just disappointed that the writers took the characters so far left!! Oh and I agree about Dwayne and Whitley they were meant from day one just a prime example of opposit attracting like Laura and Steve on Family Matters LOL

I don’t agree with your assessment of Whitley & Dwayne…what makes you say that? Not all young love is true love…but in this case, Whitley & Dwayne were a well-suited match after they worked through their issues…

I agree on Mel and Derwin, but yes, I also disagree with Whitley and Dewayne. They broke up for a while, dated other people and realized that they loved each other for real, lots of folks meet their significant others in college, (i just happened to meet mine in high school)

Just to emphasize…this is not our list but rather, an excerpt from a post found on the Huffington Post. Thanks! 🙂

Prof. Ogilevee and Nikki Parker were a couple!!!! I signed off on that show before it happened. Lol – this is a funny list though

Dwayne and Whitley broke off their engagement when Dwayne went on a date. The two never stopped loving and liking one another. That separation made them realize that they wanted to be together and were finally mature enough to make it correct and get married. Their’s is a unique love story that was one of tv’s greatest married couples. It’s what goes on in the world. The other’s that are listed are not reality just for tv ratings marriage lol.

BET ruined The Game
I LOVE Dwayne and Whitley

Dwayne and Whitley were a kick butt couple who went through a lot before they got together, and I loved loved loved them together.

I agree with the Prof. Oglevee and Nikki Parker. The whole series he hated her and then suddenly they get married. That was unfair to her. The others, I disagree with Mel and Derwin do play games, but that is life and real couples do crazier stuff than that. Dewayne and Whitley-we waited forever for that to happen and I loved it.

Derwin and Melanie were better off single/dating. After BET took over, I hated what they did to Melanie’s (and other) character. She used to be fun, but now she’s annoying and unbearable.

Somehow we all relate to disfunction, eh? :0) Or they wouldn’t keep making these crazy shows that left at some point or from the beginning. But IT IS JUST TELEVISION or entertainment! So true when they say that life imitates art, however. :0) Let’s see how Tracey Ross and Theo (lol) do the “I Do!”

My vote on who should have never gotten married: Thelma and the Rev. on Amen! I didn’t like how he played all those games with her. She should have married Richard Roundtree’s character.

Whitley and Dwayne (as everyone else has stated) were fantastic together. They were the product of good writing 🙂
