Before I met my Husband, I couldn’t have cared less about football, but he’s a big fan of the game and part of being in a relationship is taking an interest in what the other person is into right? I’m not gonna lie… I’m still not a big fan, but at least I can sit and watch a game with him without looking like a deer in headlights. For the other ladies like me out there who are really only interested in the commercials, the food and the half-time entertainment (Bruno Mars anyone?) here are some husband approved do’s and don’ts to help you better enjoy Super Bowl XLVIII.
1. Do learn the game – Read up on the game and the teams that are playing (FYI, it’s the Seattle Seahawks and Denver Broncos). Get familiar with some common football terminology like, line of scrimmage, down, blitz etc. Ask your honey to explain it to you but for the love of all that is good…
2. Don’t ask questions during the game – (unless the question is, would you like another beer)!
3. Do show your team spirit… Just make sure it’s for the right team. My Hubs is such a big Cowboys fan that my choice of red and gold holiday decor earned me major side eyes. It just so happens that my high school colors are pretty much the same as the Redskins. Oops.
4. Don’t Block the TV – Chances are he puts up with some less than masculine entertainment on your part so let him have his moment. Unlike the Real Houseflies of Love, Basketball & Hip Hop, the super bowl only happens once a year.
5. Do Make it Interesting – Why not wager a friendly bet with your boo? Come up with a sweet or sexy payout and everybody wins!
6. Do make good food – spend quality time before the game preparing game time eats. Click here for some some tasty tailgating treats.
7. Do Invite Other Couples Over – Make things more festive and watch with a group. If the other ladies aren’t into the game either, you can gather in another room for cocktails and girl talk.
8. Do Enjoy the Commercials – If you really can’t get into the game, keep yourself entertained until the next round of commercials (otherwise known as the best part of the game). Super Bowl commercials are some of the funniest and most original of the year and will give you plenty to talk about on Monday morning.
What say you BMWK? What are your plans for Super Bowl XLVIII?

Love this T! I think I must be the only wife whose husband has never been a huge football (or sports really) fan. He watches, but I never have to fight for TV time when it comes to the games. But these are great tips that many of my girlfriends could use 🙂

Thanks! I’m not jazzed about the game but bring on the tasty treats!

I feel like this is saying women are stupid when it comes to football which is sooooo not true lol We are definitely not dingbats!
T. Espinoza says
Oh no! That is definitely not my intent Dcp. It’s all in fun 🙂 I give props to the ladies that are knowledgeable about football…I’m just not one of them.

Yes yes yes, love this! I am an avid football watching lady and I agree with all points. Blocking the TV and or asking questions during the game WILL get you a side eye and a timeout, lol.

Thanks Mary M.! I’ll be sending you my questions… before the game 🙂
