Is your family sick of eating Turkey yet? Are you running out of ideas on what to do with your leftover turkey? Well I thought it would be a good idea for us to share turkey recipes.
After Thanksgiving, I was only able carve the turkey, heat it and serve it to the kids once. And they frowned at it then. I knew that I had to be creative if we were going to eat the rest of that turkey. First, I made a very yummy turkey salad that Lamar and I have been eating with crackers for the last two days.
And last night, I boiled about 6 servings of rice (3 cups), I sauteed some celery, green peppers and onions, I chopped up some turkey (white and dark meat) and added it to the sauteed vegetables for a few minutes (you don’t need long since the turkey is already done). Then I added my favorite seasonings like pepper, garlic powder, season salt, etc… I mixed the meat and sauteed veggies with the rice. Then I prepared 2 packages of turkey gravy and poured it over the entire mixture. It was a turkey and rice concoction that the family thought was yummy!!
My turkey is now down to the bare bones.

I think the key is shifting it away from the “Thanksgiving-type” turkey. I shredded the meat and sauteed it with some onions and peppers and poured BBQ sauce all over it for turkey sandwiches. Delish! 🙂

Yummmm Tara… I will try that next time

We ate all of the turkey. Got a Greenburg from TX. It’s smoked and was featured on Oprah’s favorite things. They make them in my hometown. You must try.
Now this ham is another story. Tired of ham biscuits and sandwiches. 🙁

Sounds delicious. We had a relative fry a Turkey for us this year..and it was great…but it was too much Turkey for our family to finish…so then I had to get creative.

I made up a few Turkey Pot Pies and stuck them in the freezer for quick meals later on the month. Yum!

That’s a great idea. Especially for a Sunday after church…just pop it in the oven…no fuss!

Great idea. Please post recipe.

Shockingly, we didn’t have too much that we got sick of it! Thank goodness. Probably because we actually found a 10lb turkey instead of 18 like we normally get!

My mother made turkey tetrazzini the day after Thanksgiving…
