Want to find the best spots on the web that speak directly to issues and circumstances that pertain to African American parenting? Well you’re in luck! We’ve pulled together a few of our favorite blogs to share with you. Today’s list features the dad bloggers. These are the brothers who are on the front line of the web holding it down for their kids and families. Their share the trials, struggles and triumphs that are associated with being an involved father. As a black dad blogger myself you know that I’ve got much love for these guys.

Why so many men turn their backs on there kids knowing they need them in their lives. Not just financial but putting their time in?

Many men themselves came up this way and don’t know any better figuring, “that kid’ll be alright.” Some don’t realize the value of fatherhood because fathers in today’s society are not valued in the media, on entertainment and by many women that claim they don’t need anyone and send shouts out to themselves on Father’s Day. I think also ignorance and fear weigh into the equation as well. Just as much as a woman fears the unknown of raising a child so does a man but because he isn’t birthing that child his connection isn’t as strong if he opts (out of fear) not to be around during the pregnancy getting to know mom and child and dips out before the child is born to miss the miracle of child birth. I’m not psychologist but these are just some of the reasons — and none of them are acceptable.
