BMWK attended the VIP Screening of The Peanuts Movie red carpet screening on, November 3rd at Regal Atlantic Station. The Ludacris Foundation along with The Ryan Cameron Foundation were the hosts of the VIP 20th Century Fox’s family film. Many local celebs and influencers brought their families to the screening including:
- Ludacris (Rapper Actor)
- Phaedra Parks (Bravo’s Real Housewives of Atlanta)
- Monyetta Shaw (VH1’s Atlanta Exes)
- Sarah-Elizabeth L. Reed (First Lady, City of Atlanta)
- Lisa Nicole Cloud (Bravos Married to Medicine)
- Navia Robinon (BET’s Being Mary Jane)
- Ryan Cameron & Wanda Smith (WVEE-FM)
This screening was a fabulous way to start off the holiday season. Hearing the children’s joyous laughter in the air was delightful. The Peanuts movie is definitely a must see for all families with young children. Not only will kids love everything about it, but parents will reminisce on the pleasurable classic Charlie Brown saga.
Since the first published Charlie Brown comic over 65 years ago, the characters have grown to symbolize trial and perseverance (a lesson every child must learn). Many children, and even parents, can identify with the plot of the new acclaimed Peanuts Movie.
I must say that despite Charlie Brown’s ample failures, name calling (blockhead), baseball games losses and damaged kites he did achieve success, which gave me a bittersweet feeling watching the film.
The Peanuts gang including: Charlie Brown, Lucy Van Pelt, Linus, Peppermint Patty, Schroeder, Franklin, and Snoopy represent various emotions and situations that young children face in their everyday lives. Unexpectedly, the plot gives many children an example of how to deal with failures, honesty, adversity, and self-love.
The story line covers the fall semester of the school year as Charlie Brown admires a new neighbor and classmate (the Little Red-Haired Girl).
Throughout the remainder of the school year, his number one obstacle is a lack of confidence, as Charlie Brown repeatedly states “she is something and I’m nothing.”
Charlie finally finds the courage to defeat his self-doubt and adhere to the young man that the Little Red-Haired Girl and his dog/best friend Snoopy sees him to be.
When asked what he thought about the film, Jaylen Williams stated, “I learned that it is ok to be yourself, honest, and caring.” The feedback from the children who attended this film shows that an outing with the family to see this classic will be money well spent. Overall, I give the movie two thumbs up.
