From the Washington Post:
First lady Michelle Obama ordered a whopper of a meal at the newly opened Washington diner Shake Shack during lunch on Monday.
A Washington Post journalist on the scene confirmed the first lady, who’s made a cause out of child nutrition, ordered a ShackBurger, fries, chocolate shake and a Diet Coke while the street and sidewalk in front of the usually-packed Shake Shack were closed by security during her visit.
According to nutritional information on Shake Shack’s Web site, the meal amounted to 1,700 calories. But it was impossible to tell whether the first lady intended to eat the entire order, or share with friends (the latter seems a tad more likely considering the two drinks).
Many of the commenters on the various stories around the net yawned and figured it was no big deal.

Who cares? It’s not like she’s fat. She obviously knows when to indulge and when to say no.
Michelle Obama even said it herself in an interview last year:
I love burgers and fries, you know? And I love ice cream and cake. So do most kids. We’re not talking about a lifestyle that excludes all that. That’s the fun of being a kid. That’s the fun of being a human.
BMWK family, what do you think? Should she be more careful about what she eats in public, especially as she fights to reverse childhood obesity rates in this country? Or does she send a good message about eating foods in moderation?

No. We as a people should be more careful about what we pay attention to. There are so many more important things that could use our concern.

I agree with you Patricia. The lady obviously is always working out and takes care of herself. Also loved it how the reporter had admitted that she had 2 drinks so it might not have even been all of her food. Even if it was who cares but get ready for a lot more of this mess as we get closer to the election year.

I doubt she eats like that everyday. People need to relax and pay more attention to improving themselves and their communities instead of looking for ways to criticize others.

It’s important that she is being REAL and not like she is some perfect robot… You should be able to have anything you want in moderation. When it become excessive is when it becomes a problem.

It’s ok for ANYONE to eat a burger and fries! Eating healthy does not necessarily make you a good person. And eating “unhealthy” things is not a sin. I’m glad Mrs. Obama doesn’t feel pressure to eat “perfectly”. It’s ok to enjoy food.

No, she shouldnt have to watch what she eats in public…thats insane! EVERYONE indulges every now and then…thats what living life happily is all about. Its really sickens me that we spend some much time majoring in MINOR stuff…SMH
