The year is off to a fabulous start and many of us are making serious efforts to keep our new years’ resolutions. Earlier we shared with you three easy ways to keep your travel resolution and save for a fabulous vacation this year. We’ve discovered another fabulous and easy way to save, and it will not break your budget.
The 365 Day Money Challenge is an easy system that helps you save for any goal by putting away pennies (in the beginning) and then small dollar amounts throughout the rest of the challenge. The purpose of the challenge is two-fold. It’s designed to help you easily save money but it’s also designed to help develop a strong habit of saving daily and paying yourself first.

If you stick to the system you will have saved $667.95 at the end. That’s a great start to a vacation fund and/or a nice nest egg to use as spending money on a vacation. Depending on the destination it can also be enough for a fabulous weekend getaway. Las Vegas anyone?!
It’s still early enough in the year for you to catch up and start this program/challenge. The keys to success with this challenge are:
- Creating a daily reminder. Print the savings chart and put it in a place where you’ll see it every day without fail. Tape it to the bathroom mirror, refrigerator or somewhere on your desk at work. Set a daily reminder at the same time each day on your phone to put your daily amount aside.
- Paying yourself first! Treat it like any bill and pay yourself every day.
- Designating a special savings place. We maybe too old for piggy banks, but we can use those savings jars with the digital coin counters already built-in.
This is an easy and fun way to save for a getaway. Make it a couples’ challenge and double your savings amount by years end. For more money saving tips, please visit www.savingadvice.com
