Family vacation season is quickly approaching, so we thought it would be a good idea to sneak in a fabulous couples’ getaway to one of our favorite islands, St. Lucia! A vacation on a beautiful Caribbean island is great, but a vacation during St. Lucia Jazz, on the other hand, is fabulous!

The St. Lucia Jazz and Arts festival is considered one of the Caribbean’s most popular music events. Past performers have included Toni Braxton, John Legend, Chaka Khan, Patti LaBelle and Rihanna. This year’s lineup is musically diverse and fantastic in its own right. St. Lucian reggae band ‘4th World’ is performing.   Ginuwine, violinist Karen Briggs, Tito Puente, Jr., the legendary Ojays, The Jacksons (yeap those Jacksons) and Akon are all set to grace the festival stage. 2013 continues to be the year of the ‘R,’ R. Kelly that is , as he closes the festival on Sunday May 12th with what is sure to be an unforgettable performance.

St. Lucia is a perfect destination for a romantic weekend getaway, anniversary celebration or a stroll on the beautiful beach. During your festival down time, sneak away and enjoy the wonderful shopping at the local shops, or a fabulous massage at one of the well known spas. The food on the island is simply delicious. Top chef Orlando Satchell (he was 2005’s chef of the year) has opened his own restaurant called ‘Orlando’s.’ Try one of his famous watermelon martinis, I guarantee you’ll love it!
