A few weeks ago BMWK featured my surprise engagement video on their site. Now, allow me to formerly introduce myself.
My name is Nikki, and I am the Chief Editor of www.nikkiandthecity.com. As a writer, I’ve had the opportunity to be featured on Huffington Post, ESSENCE, and JET, to name a few. However, the greatest day of my life occurred on January 4th, 2014, when Stephen Carpenter, the love of my life, asked for my hand in marriage.
Somebody please pinch me… Ummm ouch 🙂
My journey from being a single woman, to now a woman headed towards marriage has been CRAZY. I’ve had my moments of entertaining plenty of randoms (we’ll address what a random is later), to struggling with the spirit of rejection, to going through multiple stages of “being content in my singleness”. No worries, I actually reached a place of being really content as a single woman. It’s possible.
I’m so honored BMWK has given me this platform to share our trip to the altar. I’ve been engaged for a few weeks now, and I’m quickly learning that planning a wedding takes a lot of energy. Let’s not forget it’s expensive! However, there are also a plethora of other things to consider:
-Life after marriage
-Being a good wife
-Finances (shout out to Dave Ramsey)
-Stable careers
-Children (Help Lawd)
It’s dawning on me that this decision is forever, which has me beyond excited to start our life together. A date has been set, that will be revealed soon. Until then, I invite you guys to share this journey with us. I’m getting married!!!
Stay tuned for my next post: Help! Who do I Choose for My Bridal Party?
BMWK family, please give Nikki a warm welcome below in the comment section and congratulate her on her engagement.

Hi! I could have sworn I’ve been to this website before but after looking at some of the posts I realized it’s new to me.
Anyways, I’m certainly delighted I stumbled upon it and I’ll be bookmarking it
