If you haven’t already you may want to set your DVRs. Throughout the years we have watched black families entertain us on our television screens. From the Jeffersons, to the Huxtables, the Winslows, the Banks, and the Rocks (and that’s just a small handful), through the power of scripts and great casting, we have had the opportunity to laugh and have even had our thinking challenged.
One of the great things about many of these shows is that they could be enjoyed by all family members and from the looks of the video it looks like the new television show Family Time will be no different. BMWK family meet the Stallworths, a working class African American family whose life changes with a winning the lottery.
According to TV One, “The Stallworths represent a true-to life African American family working to pursue the American dream. The series follows the family as they move to a middle class community in southern California resulting in classic comedic moments tinged with drama.”
Starring Omar Gooding the series premieres tonight, January 25 at 9 p.m. ET with TWO back-to-back episodes. After that it moves to its normal time slot of Fridays at 7:30 p.m. For more information visit Indiewire.

BMWK — Will you be tuning in to watch Family Time tonight?
Tiya says
I am tuning in now. It’s cute.

Cable TV was cut from our family’s budget several months ago, so we have been watching a lot of the relatively new network, Bounce TV and I caught a couple of episodes of this show last year. From the clip above, they definitely upgraded the show’s set design with the move to TV-One! Good for them! I always try to give new shows with Black cast members a chance, but hopefully, the writing improved with the network switch, as well.
