I am so glad that he did this and showed so much compassion for the students and proved that you can come from anywhere and make it. I am shocked that there were not any comments on this post. We need to focus more on this generation and give them what is needed. I am from Memphis and I tell you the school system needs to quit padding their pockets and help these kids!

I am very inspired by the compassion and thoughtfulness that President Obama gave in his speech to the graduate of Booker T Washington high school. Education is their key to acquiring any goal in each of their lives. Thanks to the teachers, parents, and principal and the students at BTW for their dedication to achieving the task at hand. May they all go forward with the strong background to reach all of their dreams. A job well done, and truly deserved.

I am very happy that our president had the pleasure of speaking at Booker T. Washington my school – graduated with the class of 1954. Still alive and kicking. Still talking to most of my classmates who made it to 75 years. I have always been proud of that school. With our president speaking there is was the ultimate honor. Thanks BTW and thanks Mr. President – you are both wonderful. I am so very proud of Memphis, my hometown, and especially our President and the people help bring him there. Bobbie Gene
