The bright light at the end of winter is the thought of summer vacations and getaways. After you book that fabulous vacation/getaway, download a great travel app that will make your vacation fun and fabulous. Here are our picks for three must have travel apps for your upcoming vacations.
- Are we there yet?! Described as the ‘superhero’ of navigation apps, ‘Waze’ has evolved into a favorite app for parents. The app gives you a quick main route but also gives users alternate routes based on real-time information from other drivers. ‘Waze’ also provides warnings of upcoming police and road hazards. The apps’ most popular feature is the ability to share your trip status with friends and family members via messages. To learn more about this popular navigation app, please visit waze.com
- Gogobot. This app is great for booking hotel deals and vacation rentals. The apps most popular feature is the ‘attractions’ feature. This feature lists the most popular touristy and trendy things to do based on your travel tribe (community of fellow travelers with similar travel likes) The app also includes weather forecasting for your destination. For more information, please visit www.gogobot.com.
- I have a taste for gelato! This one is a food lovers’ dream app. ‘Foodspotting’ is based on the concept that food is meant to be shared visually. Type in the particular food you are craving and recommendations pop-up through visually stunning images of the dish. It is a local food guide based on dishes not restaurants. For more information, please visit foodspotting.com.
- Sunscreen. No this app doesn’t list the most popular sunscreens available. It detects the UVI levels/rating of the sun in your current location and sets a timer to tell you when you’re due for another application of sunscreen. ‘Sunscreen’ is a must have for trips to the beach, theme parks, pool side visits and a day of sight-seeing/touring. I would also add a good navigational app Spyglass. It works great when offline, assuming that you pre-download the maps that you need in advance. It shows your accurate coordinates and your current position on a map, allows to mark locations and waypoints, share your locations with friends and much more. https://itunes.apple.com/app/spyglass/id332639548?mt=8&at=11lLc7&ct=c
