Eric Payne’s 3rd book is no-nonsense common sense for DAD (and Mom too). It’s a potent literary workout for any parent looking to step up their game with their kids and with themselves. It features a glowing foreword by Black And Married With Kids very own, Lamar Tyler!
Black & Married: Why did you want to write a book on fatherhood?
EP: For a long time I’ve wanted to reach out directly to parents, fathers in particular, to give them some of the things I’ve learned along during my walk down the path of being DAD. But in the past, I was always cut down by some agent telling me, “You’re not an expert,” or “This book is too black,” or “Men won’t read this.” With the advent of social media and social networking, “The Gatekeepers Are Gone!” I went back to the drawing board, wrote the book I wanted to write versus the book I was trying to get approved by an agent. It’s been a labor of love that I am very proud of.
Black & Married: What do you hope to accomplish with the book?
EP: I want to raise the bar for Dads. And after reading this book I want Dads to raise the bar for themselves. If I ever reach the place where I say, “There is no room for improvement” I will probably be saying it because I’m on my death bed and have no more time to improve. There’s always room for improvement and that’s what this book seeks to do: challenge and inspire men with kids and the women who love them to do more and to do better on their journey. It’s not too long, because I want to keep everyone’s attention. There are workbook exercises in the book that require the reader to answer questions and do activities, sometimes with their spouses. So the book can definitely be read in group settings and in mixed settings.
Black & Married: Where can we purchase the book?
EP: You can buy the book at by following this link: https://amzn.to/ericpayne and you can also join the book’s Facebook Fan Page. Right now the book is retailing for an introductory price of $7.99 and it is currently available as a Kindle download only. If you don’t have a Kindle, that’s okay because Kindle has a bunch of free apps for iPhone, iPad, Blackberry, Android phones, and even your desktop so you can read it even if you don’t have a kindle. Somewhere down the line if people respond to this will I intend to add more formats and a maybe even a printed version. But for now this is where it’s at.
Black & Married: Thank you for talking with us, Eric!
EP: You welcome and thank you for allowing me to share my project.
During the remainder of June and the moth of July, Eric will be donating partial proceeds from the sales of DAD: As Easy As A, B, C! to the National Fatherhood Intitiative and he says he will be picking different charities to donate to over the next 12 months.
