As soon as she loses it would’ve been a good answer! How rude of her? I never think the husband/wife needs to get their own parent straight. It creates probs between that child and their own parent. I had to deal with my former M.i.L. by myself. She and I are still very close while her son can just go swimming with sharks.

My mother in law told me I was too young to have all that weight on me. I was 160 pounds with a newborn. Really, Lady, Really?!

After 15 years in a rocky marriage controlled by his mother, she said to me, “my son was happy before he married you…” In high school? Really?

lol…these are too funny. My mother has said the last one about the baby to me and my husband. As a new mom it did hurt. After the first time, it didn’t hurt as bad. I knew she just wanted some attention or to feel like she was an experienced parent and the baby gave her that attention.

My OWN mother says the last one to me all the time lol. His mother doesn’t say much in the way of insulting words but once she did come into my home while I was at work and my husband was off that day, and by the time I got home my fridge and freezer was filled with all this food I did NOT want it was disgusting and I was pissed that she had the audacity to go behind my back and do something like that which basically signified that I wasn’t feeding her son well enough o_O

When my first son was only days old, my MIL showed up at our house with lots of bottled water in tow. I thought it was for me to drink since I was exclusively breastfeeding. When I went to open a bottle to drink it, she slapped my hand and snapped: “Uh, that is NOT for you to DRINK! That is for you to BATHE my grandson! I don’t want tap water touching his body!” What the hell? Needless to say, I told her to take her bottled water right back out the door with her when she left…which needed to be RIGHT NOW! LOL! What kind of foolishness was that???

smh…I don’t think any mother-in-law has ever said anything as horrible as mine did. When I told her that I had to have an AIDS test because of her son’s infidelity and that my daughter (her granddaughter) was at risk because I was currently nursing, she said, “I told ya’ll not to have those kids anyway”. She was always a problem in our relationship. I never said anything out of respect. The respect went out the window when she said that. I cursed her out for 5 minutes straight and hung up in her face.

Its not so much what she says that irks me as what she does. My mother in law is a victim of everyone and everything. Or at least she thinks so …She also seems to feel entitled to our home whenever she manages to come in from out of town (they live about 1.5 hrs away) . Interestingly enough I don’t mind her coming or staying or buying groceries ( long as they don’t rot I could ccare less) what is frustrating is that sh never plans ahead , never asks if its okay and then just shows up. Recently we had a falling out because she called me at 10pm to say she was coming to spend the night , I told her sorry but no I have my own family here and there is no room, next time you should call and ask first. Needless to say she hasn’t called since

Oh goodness…let me give a prayer of thanks right now. BRB — Okay, I’m back. My MIL is wonderful…she’s involved with our family without trying to run things. She asks about our plans and then asks to be a part of them…still…and I’ve been married to her son for 23 years! My kids adore her and she adores them. She never buys them BIG/expensive gifts without asking us first if it’s okay. She attended/attends every birthday, holiday, soccer game, dance recital, graduation, pageant, etc with a huge smile and hugs and love. Even during our separation, she prayed with me and offered me a listening ear, the same as she did for him.
I am truly blessed, because this is the same woman that barely spoke to me before we were married, lol.

You have no idea how blessed you are I couldn’t pay my MIL to attend a birthda party…I know I’ve tried . Our daughter who is her oldest grandchild is going on 12 and her grandma has never been to her birthday party …not ever she never gets a card or gift. Even my mother who hates me with a passion manages birthdays and Christmas eve and all holidays as well as interacts during the year.
But I must say that the more I think on it the more that I believe half the problem lies with husbands/wives (whoever has the crazy and deranged parents)… I say this because she doesn’t behave this way with her other grands or the rest of her family, but her actions are mimicked by his other family members, and it always sets me off. No one in his family does naything remotel familial with our family, they only will spend time with him if we aren’t there and if its on their terms usually meaning we are supposed to pay for the experience. If he (my husband) was protective of our family and relationship, and if he was uinwilling to deal with their bull they wouldn’t try it. They do it because he allows it

Can’t say I can relate. My MIL is not perfect, but she’s towing the line. We have a great rel’ship and keeping it real is no problem. I do luv when she makes a suggestion that ends with, “…but I’m not trying to tell u what to do in ur house.” We moved 12 hrs away 7 yrs ago and I’m still trying to get her and my FIL to move to TX!

My MIL was great up to the time (5 months ago)…she yelled at her son “The only reason why you don’t want to go to work is you can be stuck up under your wife’s wing”!!!! She also told him how she really felt that I have him pu$$y-whipped (her words mot mine). After being married for 5 yrs to her son, picking her up from NJ and driving her to NY and a whole lot more I’ve done for her….she felt that great need to inform her son how she really felt about me. I don’t say much to her now, just the basic Hi and I keep my mouth shut cause I don’t want to have my husband feel uncomfortable to have us in the same room.

my question is what if anything did yr husband say to her after all that insulting and disrespect?? He should be uncomfortable to have such a foul mouthed mother, who is willing to disrespect his wife who has tried tobe a god daughter in law…I go through this with my in laws and i find it infuriating because Im always supposed to bite my tongue and if I do say something Im told that Im reacting because I just don’t like his family( mind you I have let all of his siblingslive in my home, rent free, I have done the driving back and forth etc….as well
